How to Use WeChat Pay?

In our last video, NHC was pleased to show you how to create a new account on WeChat, the super App which you shall be literally using every day. In this video, NHC would love to elaborate more on this topic and teach you how to use WeChat Pay to make a payment in real-life situations.

WeChat Pay is an integrated payment solution/solution which allows you to receive money, send money and pay for items. Follow the instructions below to help your set up your own WeChat Pay.

Launch WeChat on your smart phone, then proceed to the ‘Me’ section and tap ‘Pay’. From here, select “Cards,” which will direct you to the next screen where you can add your local bank card to your WeChat Wallet (sync your local bank card to your WeChat account).

Following that, enter your card number and general information. This includes your name, passport ID, phone number and other details specific to the card.

NHC recommends you spend some time opening a China bank account that you can link to WeChat as this is the easiest way to set up WeChat Wallet and make a payment in China.

To properly open to bank account in China, you need to: 1. Be over 18 years of age; 2. Bring photocopies of your passport (with a minimum validity of 6 months) and residence permit/work permit/employment certificate issued by the company you work for with you before going to the banks. 3. Follow bank clerk’s instructions.  

Now you are all set! There are basically two ways to make a payment on WeChat: ‘Quick Pay’ and QR Code Payment. To use Quick Pay, you need to generate your Quick Pay code and then present it to merchant to scan to complete the payment. With regards to the QR Code Payment, you need to proceed to 'Scan QR Code' in WeChat, scan merchant's QR Code, and enter transaction amount and payment password to make the payment.
