Essential Items

Carry-On Luggage:

1) Your passport with valid China visa and copies of all the important pages.

2) Admission documents (letter, visa, physical examination form and other important documents) with copies.

3) Enrollment documents for school.

4) At least 4k-5k RMB in cash for any unforeseen circumstances.

5) A smart phone with VPN and other offline translator apps, currency converter, phrasebook, digital copies of passport and travel docs, insurance card, contact info for friends or family, etc.

6) Back-up batteries or power bank. 

Check-In Luggage:

7) Luggage tags with contact information in case of missing luggage.

8) Universal adapter and voltage converters. China uses a 220 Volt 50 Hz AC electricity supply. It’s best to have a universal adapter to ensure that you’ll always be able to charge your devices.

9) Other necessities, such as personal medicine (please check the list of prohibited drugs in China before your departure).
